Mya’I Thomas is an Oakland native who began her career in the legal field in 2011, working on behalf of workers who suffered on-the-job injuries. Since deciding to be an attorney, Ms. Thomas sought out opportunities that allowed her to gain invaluable experience in nearly all aspects of the legal industry.
While attending, California State University, Monterey Bay, she interned with a legal aid clinic serving underrepresented communities in Monterey County. She handled everything from consumer fraud cases to criminal record expungements. Ms. Thomas also interned at the Monterey County District Attorney’s office where she assisted in prosecuting environmental and consumer crimes.
After graduating, Ms. Thomas took a two-year break to further hone her legal skills and assisted personal injury attorneys litigating catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases, as well as class action lawsuits.
In 2018, Ms. Thomas relocated to Boston where she attended New England Law | Boston. While in Boston, Ms. Thomas continued to gain invaluable experience in personal injury working for both plaintiff-side personal injury firm and insurance defense firm where she insight to defending personal injury cases. To round out her knowledge and experience of personal injury litigation, Ms. Thomas accepted a position with Liberty Mutual Insurance as a law clerk where she worked with in-house legal teams in both litigation and insurance coverage matters.
In July 2021, Ms. Thomas sat for the Uniform Bar Exam and is awaiting her results while studying to sit for the February 2022 California Bar Exam. She is currently in the process of relocating back to the Bay Area where she will join Rencher Law Group trial lawyers and counselors at law.
In her free time, Ms. Thomas enjoys writing, trying new foods, and hanging out with her beagle, M’Jay.
Ms. Thomas serves as a Law Clerk for Rencher Law Group.
