Amber Martinez, a Bay Area native, was born and raised in Oakland, California. Ms. Martinez’s current role is Law Clerk but will be Post Bar Associate Attorney at Rencher Law Group P.C. after sitting for the July Bar just before this conference.
Ms. Martinez inspiration as a litigator started in her youthful days in Oakland but became engrained during her sophomore year of high school. She was given a life-changing opportunity to participate in a seven-day trip through the Deep South to learn about the Civil Rights Movement. Listening to the likes of John Lewis, Simeon Wright, and Elizabeth Eckford tell their personal accounts of events of the Civil Rights Movement inspired her to become a fierce advocate for others. Those icons each added a valuable piece to a history characterized by strength, resilience, empathy, and compassion for others. Throughout all, the theme was simple: one person can make a powerful impact when they are working in service to the community. That trip manifested her desire to be of service to others by helping to secure and protect the rights of marginalized groups, and ultimately led her to apply to law school.
Ms. Martinez received her Juris Doctor degree from Thurgood Marshall School of Law where she graduated a semester early in December 2021. She gained invaluable practical experience and sharpened her advocacy as a 1L moot court competitor year which carry her into her day-to-day task representing those injured or who have lost a loved one.
While in law school, Ms. Martinez interned with the Office of General Counsel at Texas Southern University and served as a Senior Editor for the Thurgood Marshal Law Review. Her article entitled “Hybrid Film Distribution: How Warner Brothers Changed the Way We See Films in the COVID-19 Era” was published in the Spring 2021 edition.
Throughout her legal career, Ms. Martinez has had the opportunity to practice in a variety of areas including Private and Public Education, Labor and Employment, Wrongful Death, Personal Injury, and Elder Abuse. In all of her positions, Ms. Martinez was able to apply personal life experiences and use her skill set as a fierce advocate in her service to others.
With Rencher Law Group, P.C. she assists clients through some of the most difficult times in their lives. She witnesses first-hand the devastating effects that a motor vehicle accident can have on a person’s life. Ms. Martinez is motivated by her clients motivate her to continue to develop her litigation skills so she can represent them as an attorney.
